Publication Ethics Statement
Introduction
JIMT is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and ethical conduct in the publication of scholarly research. This statement outlines our policies and practices to ensure ethical behavior in all aspects of the publication process.
1. Authorship
- Criteria for Authorship: Authorship should be based on substantial contributions to the research, including its conception, design, execution, or interpretation. All authors should approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work.
- Acknowledgment of Contributors: Individuals who have contributed to the research but do not meet the criteria for authorship should be acknowledged appropriately in the manuscript.
2. Plagiarism
- Originality: All submissions must be original work. Plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, is strictly prohibited. Authors must properly cite and acknowledge the work of others.
- Detection: Manuscripts may be screened for plagiarism using appropriate tools and software.
3. Data Integrity
- Accuracy: Authors must ensure that their data is accurately reported. Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of data is unethical and unacceptable.
- Transparency: Authors should be transparent about their methodology and, where possible, provide access to their data.
4. Conflicts of Interest
- Disclosure: Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence the research or its publication.
- Management: Conflicts of interest should be managed to prevent any bias in the research and its publication.
5. Peer Review Process
- Confidentiality: The peer review process is confidential. Reviewers must not disclose or use information from the manuscript for their own benefit.
- Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively and provide constructive feedback to authors.
6. Redundant Publication and Salami Slicing
- Redundant Publication: Submitting the same research to more than one journal or publishing the same data in multiple papers without proper justification and citation is prohibited.
- Salami Slicing: Fragmenting research findings into multiple papers should be avoided unless each paper offers significant new insights.
7. Corrections and Retractions
- Corrections: If errors are found in a published paper, they should be corrected promptly.
- Retractions: In cases of serious errors or misconduct, a retraction may be necessary to maintain the integrity of the literature.
8. Ethical Treatment of Human and Animal Subjects
- Compliance: Research involving human or animal subjects must comply with ethical standards and receive approval from appropriate review boards.
- Informed Consent: Participants must provide informed consent, and their confidentiality must be protected.
9. Editorial Independence
Integrity: Editors should act with integrity and independence, basing decisions to accept or reject a manuscript solely on its scientific merit.
Conclusion
Adherence to these ethical standards ensures the credibility and reliability of scholarly research. JIMT is committed to upholding these principles and expects all participants in the publication process to do the same.
